Blue Trunk Foundation
A web application built to bridge the gap between travel and accessibility. Users can filter business search results to fit their unique needs, making travel simple and accessible for everyone.
Enabling individuals with disabilities to have the resources and information available to make travel more accessible.
Universal accessibility for all meant starting with the web user. To accommodate all users the application was built using WCAG 2.1 guidelines. The design uses a minimalist approach with distinguished elements to avoid confusion and increase legibility for any user.
Using a 7:1 contrast ratio makes content easily legible and distinguishable on the page. A contrast filter allows you to switch between light and dark contrast to aid users with visual impairments.
Before the Blue Trunk Foundation took on their mission, individuals with disabilities had few resources available to research travel accommodations. Disabilities are both visible and invisible. In 2018 the CDC reported 1 in 4 people are living with a disability. Having a web-based application that allows those with disabilities to plan a trip according to their needs makes travel and life more accessible for everyone.
